Off the truck.
ACM and architectural metal panels land on edge crates. The Smartlift takes them off without manual handling, no scratched faces, no dropped edges.
Painted ACM panels are slick, oversized, and easy to scratch on a four-person carry. Vacuum cups grip the painted face, lift cleanly, and set the panel without finger marks or dropped edges. Iron Bay rents the Smartlift SL609 HLE RT to Florida metal trades from our Tampa yard.

Smooth wheels and remote control let one operator move a 600 to 1,300 lb panel across the staging area without four people on a carry.
Vacuum cups grip the painted face. Tilt and rotate the panel into the frame or rail. Set it. The remote lets one operator do precise alignment a four-person crew can't safely manage on a vertical pick.
Painted aluminum, plenum panels, rainscreen units.
Standing seam, fluted, and custom-fabricated metal.
Fabricated housings, condenser shrouds, large duct components when they're staged at ground level.
Backlit and fabricated sign faces.
Bronze, copper, weathered steel facades for hospitality and high-end commercial.
Surface matters. Smooth painted or coated metal grips well. Raw galvanized or rough mill finishes won't form a vacuum seal. Send a photo if you're not sure. Solar PV is not a primary fit in most cases. Modern residential modules are 50 to 80 lb and most installers handle them with ladders and panel carriers. For oversized commercial PV, carports, or BIPV, talk to us.
Less crew. Less risk. Cleaner installs. The comparison below uses honest numbers for Florida metal trades.
| Job pattern | Manual crew install | 1 person plus Smartlift | You save |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single ACM panel set on a commercial facade | About $180 in labor for 1.5 hours, plus a real risk of scratching the painted face. Replacement panels run $200 to $800 each. | About $30 to $60 in labor on top of your day or week rental. | Best value when the unit handles 8+ panels in a day. |
| ACM rainscreen run (about 100 panels over 5 days) | About $6,000 in labor, plus scratch risk on $200 to $800 panels. | Week rental $1,625, insurance $244, round-trip delivery $300, plus about $1,200 in 2-person labor. About $3,369 for the week. | About $2,500 a week, plus near-zero scratch risk. |
| Custom architectural metal feature wall | A four-person specialty crew at $35 to $45 an hour. Days of staging and slow setting. Heavy injury exposure. | One operator with a Smartlift. Days collapse into hours. Zero scratch risk if the surface grips. | Variable, but the math always favors the rental on multi-day work. |
We're new, so while we build our own customer wall, here's metal handled on the record with Smartlift vacuum gear. Photos courtesy of Smartlift.
A German fabricator of stainless steel building components rented Smartlift vacuum gear for a job the machine wasn't even marketed for: moving heavy sheet-metal plates between production steps. The plates used to be carried by hand. The only requirement was a smooth surface for the suction pads, which is exactly what coated and stainless sheet gives you.
"With the Smartlift, we effortlessly handle even the most demanding and heaviest lifting tasks."
Real Iron Bay customer stories will live here as our rental work in Florida builds. We won't fabricate quotes.
Yes. Painted and coated metal grips like glass. Raw mill finish or rough galvanized doesn't form a seal. Send a photo if you're not sure.
Capacity is 1,320 lb with the arm in. For sheet metal the dimensions usually matter more than the weight. Send the panel size and we'll confirm reach and tilt clearance.
Yes, on stable footing. The unit is electric and won't release exhaust. For sloped or restricted-access roofs, talk to us about staging logistics.
If the panels have a smooth painted or coated face and fall under 1,300 lb, yes. Send the panel size and surface finish on your quote.
No. Our delivery driver runs the controls walkthrough on drop-off. If you can drive a pallet jack, you can run a Smartlift.
