Will a Smartlift lift my piece?
Usually, if the piece is under 1,320 lb and the machine can get close to where it lands. That is the SL609 rating with the arm in. At full reach the limit is 330 lb, and 4.1 ft from the front wheel it is 860 lb. Check your material in the weights table, then send us the weight and how far it has to reach. We confirm the fit before you book.
What common pieces weigh.
Every piece on this list is inside 1,320 lb with the arm in. The last column says whether it also fits at full reach, where the limit is 330 lb.
| Material | Typical size | Weight | Fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Porcelain or sintered slab, 6 mm | 10 ft 6 x 5 ft 3 | about 160 lb | Any reach |
| Porcelain or sintered slab, 12 mm | 10 ft 6 x 5 ft 3 | 326 lb | Arm in |
| Porcelain or sintered slab, 20 mm | 10 ft 6 x 5 ft 3 | 540 lb | Arm in |
| Quartz (Cambria), 3 cm, standard slab | 10 ft 2 x 4 ft 7 | about 705 lb | Arm in |
| Quartz (Cambria), 3 cm, jumbo slab | 11 ft x 5 ft 5 | about 900 lb | Arm in |
| Granite, 3 cm | jumbo slab, about 66 sq ft | about 1,090 lb | Arm in |
| Laminated impact glass, 9/16 in, glass only | 6 x 10 ft lite | about 420 lb | Arm in |
| Laminated impact glass, 9/16 in, glass only | 8 x 12 ft lite | about 670 lb | Arm in |
Per square foot: laminated impact glass about 7 lb (9/16 in, glass only), 3 cm quartz about 15, 3 cm granite about 16.6, 12 mm porcelain about 6. Multiply by the square feet of your piece. Lites this big often need thicker glass than 9/16 in, and an insulated unit adds a second lite, so get the unit weight from the maker. Some granite runs heavier than 16.6 lb a square foot, so a big jumbo can come close to the arm-in limit. Send the weight. Sources: Cambria's slab sheet for quartz, a sintered-stone maker's published slab weights for porcelain, and the density of glass and granite for the rest.
Reach changes the answer.
The heavier the piece, the closer the machine has to stand to where it lands.
- Arm inUp to 1,320 lb.
- 4.1 ft from the front wheel860 lb.
- Full reach330 lb, with both arm stages out (5 ft 3 in of extension).
- WindWind cuts the limit. In the manufacturer's own example, a 43 sq ft piece in a 17.9 mph wind takes the 860 lb figure down to about 688 lb.
- HeightThe pads lift to 13 ft 11 in.
When it is the wrong machine.
We say so on the first call. These are real requests we have had this year.
- Too heavyStone pieces of 1,700 lb and more. That is too heavy for the SL609.
- Too highGlass and stone set 15 and 16 ft up. The SL609 lifts to 13 ft 11 in.
- Heavy and highA 1,200 lb unit set 12 ft up fits the arm-in rating only with the machine right at the opening and little or no wind. Send a photo of the approach.
If your piece is too heavy, send it anyway. We can source a larger unit for heavier lifts.

The follow-ups.
The five questions that usually come right after this one.
How heavy is a granite slab?
A 3 cm granite slab runs about 16.6 lb a square foot, so a jumbo of about 66 sq ft is about 1,090 lb. Some granite runs heavier, so send the weight. Cambria quartz runs about 15 lb a square foot at 3 cm, so its jumbo slab is about 900 lb. Other quartz brands can run heavier.
How heavy is impact glass?
About 7 lb a square foot for a 9/16 in laminated makeup, glass only. A 6 by 10 lite is about 420 lb. The frame adds weight, and an insulated unit adds more, so ask the maker for the unit weight.
Can it set a full porcelain slab?
Yes, with the machine close in. A 12 mm porcelain or sintered slab of 10 ft 6 by 5 ft 3 is about 326 lb. That is only 4 lb under the 330 lb full-reach limit, and wind cuts the limit, so plan it with the arm in, where the SL609 holds 1,320 lb. A 20 mm slab is about 540 lb, so the machine has to stand closer still.
What if my piece is over 1,320 lb?
Then it is not an SL609 job. We can source a larger unit for heavier lifts. Send the weight and the size.
Do I need the exact weight?
A close number is enough to start. Send the material, the thickness, the size, and how far the piece has to travel from where the machine can stand. We work out the rest and confirm the fit before you book.
