1. What does it cost to rent a glazing robot in Tampa?

   Every Iron Bay rental is quoted for the job. Four things set the number: how long you keep it, the delivery zone, the damage waiver, and attachments. Delivery is priced each way. Send the jobsite zip and your dates. We answer within two hours, 9 to 5, seven days, and quote as soon as we have your job details.

2. Will a Smartlift fit through a 36-inch door?

   Yes. The SL609 HLE RT drives through at 32.7 in with the support legs up, so a standard 36-inch doorway clears. It needs 5 ft 8 in of width to set the legs down and lift, so measure the room as well as the door.

3. Do I need a licensed operator to run a glazing robot?

   No. There is no license or certification card for running a Smartlift. Anyone who runs it must be 18 or older, trained on it, and have read the manual. Our driver walks your crew through the controls at drop-off, and you have our number for the whole rental.

4. Can a vacuum lifter be used on a finished floor indoors?

   Yes, with two things sorted first. The SL609 HLE RT is battery-electric, so there are no fumes and it runs inside an occupied building. It is also a 2,090 lb Outdoor-series machine on standard tires, which can mark a finished floor. We have tire covers for finished floors, so tell us it is a finished floor when you book.

5. How do you get a 10-foot porcelain slab to the second floor?

   Not up the stairs. A house landing is too shallow to turn a ten-foot-six slab, and porcelain shatters when it goes. The way up is from outside, with a vacuum lifter that lifts to 13 ft 11 in and holds the slab flat while the operator walks it in on a remote and a second person guides it. It lifts 1,320 lb close to the mast and 330 lb at full extension, so where the machine can park matters more than what the slab weighs.

6. Will a Smartlift lift my piece?

   Usually, if the piece is under 1,320 lb and the machine can get close to where it lands. That is the SL609 rating with the arm in. At full reach the limit is 330 lb, and 4.1 ft from the front wheel it is 860 lb. Check your material in the weights table, then send us the weight and how far it has to reach. We confirm the fit before you book.

7. Do I need insurance to rent a Smartlift?

   It comes in two parts. If you rent for a business, send a general liability certificate before delivery. For damage to the machine itself, there are two ways. Take the damage waiver, which is its own line on the quote. Or send a certificate for rented equipment coverage that names Iron Bay Equipment LLC as loss payee. If you rent for yourself and not a business, the damage waiver is required.

8. What is a glass manipulator?

   A glass manipulator is a powered machine that grips a pane or slab on vacuum pads, then lifts, tilts and turns it into place. People also call it a glazing robot. Some sellers say vacuum lifter or glass lifter, names that also cover hand cups and lifters that hang from a crane. The Smartlift SL609 HLE RT we rent is a glass manipulator: four 16 inch pads, up to 1,320 lb with the arm in and 330 lb at full reach, battery-electric.

9. Can a Smartlift work on sand, pavers or a slope?

   On firm ground, yes. The SL609 manual asks for a solid surface for driving and for lifting, and recommends ground protection mats on soft ground like sand. Slopes are for driving only. Empty, it drives on up to 6 degrees. Loaded, the limit drops fast: the full rating up to 2 degrees, 75 percent at 3, nothing at 6. It has to be level before it lifts, and it is never left loaded or parked on a slope.

10. What can't a Smartlift do?

    The SL609 will not lift more than 1,320 lb with the arm in, or 330 lb at full reach, and it will not set anything above 13 ft 11 in. It cannot hold a piece the pads cannot seal on, like a wet or dusty face, or one too curved to seal, and it never lifts people. It does not work in the rain, it lifts only on level ground, and it is not a crane.
