Will a Smartlift fit through a 36-inch door?
Yes. The SL609 HLE RT drives through at 32.7 in with the support legs up, so a standard 36-inch doorway clears. It needs 5 ft 8 in of width to set the legs down and lift, so measure the room as well as the door.
Two widths, and you need both.
Answering the door question with one number puts a machine in the room that cannot lift anything once it is there.

- To lift5 ft 8 in with the support legs down and locked. The legs are not optional when there is a load on the pads.
- What to measureThe clear opening, not the size on the door schedule. The stop and the hinge side take some of it. Then the room where the piece lands.
Rooms that catch people out.
The machine gets in. The question is whether it can set its legs where the piece has to go.
Hallways and corridors
It drives down them. It cannot set its legs in one narrower than 5 ft 8 in, so the lift happens in the room at the end.
Small bathrooms
A slab shower wall in a five-foot bathroom is a legs-down problem. Plan where the machine parks before the slab is cut.
Kitchen aisles
The gap between the island and the run is often under 5 ft 8 in. The machine sets the island top from the open side.
Elevators
Never assume it goes upstairs. It weighs 2,090 lb. Get the elevator or hoist rating in writing from the GC before you book.

How much room does it need to work?

Can it get over a curb or a step?
Yes, with the ramp. Ask for it when you book and it goes on the truck at no extra cost. A full flight of stairs is a no. It does not climb stairs.

Sometimes. It weighs 2,090 lb and the boom adds length. Get the elevator or construction hoist rating in writing from the GC. Never assume it goes upstairs.
Do I need a trained operator?
No. Our driver walks your crew through the controls on drop-off, about twenty minutes. If you can drive a pallet jack, you can run a Smartlift.
